Total internal reflection of a laser source through a prism
Total internal reflection is the phenomenon that occurs when all of the incident light is reflected off the boundary. This can only happen if the incident light is coming from a denser medium than the medium it is approaching and the angle of incidence must be greater than the critical angle.
Take me to the lab...
Materials:
- Laser diode
- Power source
- triangular prism
- Set up the laser so that it is pointed towards the prism.
- rotate the prism until all of the light of incidence is being reflected through one beam of light coming out the prism.
